The young sisters of the sisters of the Infant Jesus in Nigeria today September 12th, 2020 renewed their vows. Sisters Juliet Shima, Catherine Meka, Maureen Agwagu, Agnes Donald, Cecilia Koemfet, Helen Zaka, and Amanda Naanshep vowed to the Almighty God to live their life in chastity, poverty and obedience. It was a joyful day indeed to see their radiant smiling faces in answering the divine call and giving out all to follow Christ more closely.
The young sisters had their recollection on the 11th September, 2020 to enable them attend to the presence of God in their souls and to reflect over the past year.
They had a deep awareness of God’s presence in their lives through silent prayers and Eucharistic adoration which helped them to experience the presence of God and were also attentive to the promptings of the Holy Spirit.
It also helped them to pray and quieten them from discordant voices of nature, inner distractions and preoccupations.
Reverend Father Michael Ifiora presided over the Mass of the renewals. He gave a wonderful homily. During his homily, he said that the life that has it foundation strong as a rock listens and acts on the commands of God, so he encouraged the young sisters to build their faith on a strong foundation and to be open to Christ’s word and His instructions that are brought to our awareness as the key of our life and to live their vows now not after final vows.
To have a great heart and seek to be a great disciples, they must constantly learn at the school of Jesus Christ and to embrace His wisdom, they can say, as Paul wrote to the Corinthians, “all I can bring to others is knowledge of Jesus Christ”.
We pray for them as they renewed their vows of chastity, poverty and obedience. May they always reveal the love of Christ to those they encounter and continue to enrich our world by their dedicated lives of prayer. Amen.
